Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to reveal some of the major events taking place at the turn of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century in Cambridge which ultimately led to the emergence of the Analytic movement in British and later on in European philosophy. The friendship of George Moore and Bertrand Russell is discussed as well as their struggle against the Absolute Idealism in Britain. The leading role of Moore and Russell as founders of the new philosophical trend is presented together with the emphasis Moore placed on common sense in philosophy. The second half of the article focuses on the key arguments raised by Moore in his attack against the main thesis of Idealism of any sort Esse est percipi. Moore’s early work ‘The Refutation of Idealism’ is considered to be the excellent display of the Analytic method in philosophy.
