Summary/Abstract: The mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse aims to ensure the accountability of the signatory states for the achievement of the objectives established by this document, establishing the degree of achievement of the objectives, by using procedures for the collection and interpretation of data on the activities and measures taken by each state to prevent and combat this criminal phenomenon. The efficiency of the mechanism essentially depends on the correct understanding of the proposed objectives and the recommendations addressed to the member states by the European Union institutions.
