Summary/Abstract: The article aims to provide an overview of the most recent sanctions applied as well as the approaches and aspects that the competent European data protection authorities have taken into account in the activities carried out during the reference period. Overall, the most relevant sanction applied, from the point of view of the severity of the charges imposed on a single entity, is that applied to META. The parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp was ordered to pay an amount equal to 405 million euros, a penalty imposed by the Irish Data Protection Commission on September 5th, 2022, over issues regarding the processing of personal data concerning to child users on Instagram.
