Chinese Students’ Difficulties During and After Studying in Hungary

Summary/Abstract: There are a relatively large number of Chinese students studying in Hungary, about whom we know relatively little, especially about their difficulties, integration and future plans. Our research, which builds on narrative interviews, explored the experiences of Chinese students and also sought answers to their future plans for further study or career. According to the results, Chinese students’ numerous difficulties culminated in language barrier and learning style mismatch. Their future is mostly characterized by uncertainty, the Hungarian higher education experience is so different from the Chinese one that the utilization of the knowledge gained here is doubtful.
