Summary/Abstract: The Synaxarion Life of St Methodius of Moravia occupies an important place among the Slavic sources on Cyril and Methodius and their disciples. Although it is one of the earliest Slavic sources that was discovered, the original text of the work is still to be explored. Therefore, the important questions of the time and the place of its occurrence have not been answered yet. Few of the copies of the Life have been published. Most scholars believe that this is a late text, which probably occurred among Southern Slavs but survived only in Russian copies. In 1989 Sv. Nikolova published the only Moldavian copy of the Life known at that moment (ms No.10 from the collection of the church museum “St Nicholas” in Brašov) and the documentary evidence confirmed the Bulgarian origin of the work. A second Moldavian copy of the Life is published in the present article for the first time (RGB, f. 98, collection of E. Egorov, No. 105, Service Menaion and Prologue for May, Moldavian manuscript, 1587). It has distinct Middle Bulgarian features that are yet another proof of the work’s Bulgarian origin.
