Summary/Abstract: For many languages the first translations of the Bible were the beginning of standardization. The Bible was then translated again regularly in order to follow language changes and eventual restandardization: these new translations show the evolution of usage, and to some extent contribute to the further process of standardization. We discuss the use of past tenses in the same passages from ten translations of the Gospel of Mark, published in the early 21st century in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, including revised editions of former translations, which will give us a broader view of the restructuring aspectual-temporal system in the BCMS (bosnian, croatian, montenegrin, serbian) language.
