Summary/Abstract: The problems of depopulation in a given area lead to a deterioration of the socio-economic situation in it. The problem has many sides and raises a number of questions. The role of economics is to analyze the causes of these imbalances and on the basis of the conclusions to outline the paths for future development. The present study aims to analyze and evaluate the socio-economic situation in Vidin region - the region with the largest demographic crisis in Bulgaria and to propose measures to address its problems.
