Summary/Abstract: Emerging adulthood is a term used to describe individuals between the ages of 18-29 in accordance with the conditions of the modern period. In the modern era, most individuals who have reached the age of 18 are not considered full-fledged adults in terms of psychosocial aspects as they do not meet markers or criteria for adulthood, which include gaining financial independence, getting a regular job, getting married, and having children. Accordingly, the individual is far from living and acting like an adult. Emerging adults are undecided and in-between about feeling like adults. During this period, individuals consider themselves neither adolescents nor adults. Emerging adulthood has some characteristic features. These characteristics are a person's search for identity, the lack of stability in life, the focus on oneself to recognize the life and position oneself, the feeling of being in-between, and having a wide range of opportunities to choose from. Another term emphasized in the article is religious understanding. Religious understanding primarily refers to the cognitive dimension of religion and it is not about what an individual “does”, but about how he or she "understands" and "interprets" religion. In other words, the concept of religious understanding is not primarily concerned with whether a person lives his or her religion, participates in worship, or fulfills a religious obligation.
