Summary/Abstract: This article aims to describe the diminutives of culinary origin in Bulgarian and Romanian. The diminutives belonging to that group include lexemes indicating food products, meals, beverages, spices, kitchen equipment, utensils, clothing and facilities, related to food and nutrition in general. The feature analyses the denotative, as well as the connotative meanings of “culinary” diminutives and seeks to explain their abundance in both languages.
