Summary/Abstract: The coin hoard from Herina – at the place called Tăuț – provides new information on the historical background regarding this geographic area in the pre-Roman period. The hoard consists of 20 drachms of Dyrrhachium and a silver bracelet of the La Téne age. This discovery may suggest a votive offering in connection with the nearby Dacian settlement. However, the lack of any clear archaeological context, the absence of a container, may not entirely exclude the hypothesis of a hoard buried in haste. The archaeological investigations that followed the finding of this hoard, did not retrieve more coins but other artefacts that suggest a high dynamic human activity in the area from prehistory through ancient and medieval periods, to the modern one.
