Summary/Abstract: After the recent publication of the archaeological repertoire of Suceava County, the authormakes a statistical analysis on the evolution of housing in Bucovina during the V–XII centuries. It is accepted a high risk of error of some pottery dating discovered only on the soil surface. Themigration of the Goths led to a very large increase in the number of settlements, most of which disappeared after the Hun invasion. After the passage of the Slavs south of the Danube, the number of settlements decreases again, only after the Mongol invasion they increase dramatically through the massive emigration of communities beyond the Carpathians, which will contribute demographically to the creation of the medieval state of Moldova.
