Summary/Abstract: In this paper we present two articles of the Spanish poet, translator and literary critic Enrique Díez-Canedo on Serbian folk poetry, published in the magazine Espańa in 1918. The main reason for his writings were dramatic events in Serbia during World War I and the compassion of this intellectual for the suffering of our people. In his texts Díez-Canedo provides basic information about Serbian folk poetry, as well as the translation of several selected songs, the first translation ever done into Spanish. This achievement, as well as Díez-Canedo’s meaningful presentation and his very laudatory judgment about “one of the richest Slavic folk literatures” bear a very special importance to the contribution of this Spanish literary expert.
