Summary/Abstract: The study examines the presentation of a specific fragment of the Bulgarian worldview in “Bulgarian as a Second Language” textbooks. The fragment is related to Bulgarians’ national-specific understanding of success and/or lack of success. The socio-cultural information related to this fragment (as well as to any other fragment of the Bulgarian worldview) is important, because it helps those who study Bulgarian as a second language to cope better with the cultural barrier, and to better understand the cultural peculiarities. In this study we try to give answers to two questions – is there socio-cultural information related to the national-specific understanding of success, and if so, how it is presented in the textbooks in Bulgarian as a second language.
