Summary/Abstract: Romanticism, naturalism, realism are all to be found throughout Barbu Șt. Delavrancea’s short stories, both as literary influences and as individually artistic approaches. The portraits Delavrancea creates for his characters are usually a mixture between romantic and naturalistic features. This paper aims to present the corresponding symptomatology of naturalist characters, by providing examples from three short stories dedicated to such complex individualities: Zobie, Iancu the poltergeist and the Troubadour. This paper will also provide literary insights upon the aesthetic and artistic value of these characters.
