Summary/Abstract: Since the establishment of the Austro-Hungarian dualism from 1867 until the population census of 1910, the Hungarian population from Hungaria has grown from 42% to 54% of the total population, and in absolute numbers almost doubled, of course not so much through the natural increase of births to the Hungarian nationality, as well as by the forced Magyarization of nonHungarian nationalities: Romanians, Slovaks and Ruthenians. However, the Budapest government was not satisfied with the result obtained in the first forty years of Magyarization, between 1870 and 1910, and sought to further force Magyarization through the church. He established a Hungarian Greek Catholic Episcopate specifically for this purpose in 1912, based in Hajdudorog, a town located about 40 km north of Debrecen.
