Summary/Abstract: In this paper we have shown the factors responsible for the censorship of the antiques stores in Romania, during 1944-1989. The research was carried out mainly at the National Archives of Romania, where different documents were analysed from the Archives Committee for Press and Prints. Other sources used in this research were taken from the National Library of Romania, the Central University Library in Bucharest, the Orthodox Theology Library in Bucharest, the Library of the Holy Synod, part of the Romanian Patriarchy, and the Romanian Academy Library in Bucharest. Over 45 years the Communist Party had total control over the antiques stores through an institutionalized system, named General Institution of Press and Prints.
