Developing interaction skills of children and adolescents in listening training

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to verify how and how often interaction skills are taught to children and young people as part of listening work in Polish as a second language at A1 level. For this purpose, three textbooks were analysed for pupils at the second stage of education who are entering a Polish school. The research found that learners do not have many opportunities to develop interaction skills, as there are few exercises of this type in the textbooks studied. Accordingly, the author presents examples of tasks that activate students to undertake verbal and non-verbal activities based on the listened text.
