Summary/Abstract: This article aims to provide a detailed and comprehensive presentation ofthe field of management consulting. The history of management consulting begins atthe time of the first industrial revolution, and since then, it has been one of the mostprosperous industries and professions. Business life today is unthinkable withoutconsultants. The paper presents the traditional and new reasons for employingconsultants. It describes the most critical factors and global trends affectingthe development and evolution of management consulting. Our study covers regionalspecificities and consulting trends in Central and Eastern Europe, focusing on Slovakiabased on secondary data by reviewing and synthesizing the most recent literature.
