Summary/Abstract: Precious information about the way in which Fănuș Neagu presented the reality in his literary work can be extracted from the five volumes of the author’s individual surveillance dossier. There are many fragments of this dossier that relate to his literary works and that can be easily transformed into evidenced of the texts’ ambivalent character. Moreover, they can serve as both masks and mirrors of the fervid social and political reality of the time. The dossier contains files which accuse Fănuș Neagu of behaving against the system, but, at the same time, there are some notes that can be easily interpreted as simple recordings of fulfilling a duty for the communist party.
