Summary/Abstract: Fanus Neagu’s short stories are placed in a specific dimension where shadow meets light, due to the bogomilic aspect of the reality prompted in the author’s texts. The immortalization and inconstancy of the native aspects of time and space are developed through a series of symbols which take the shape of a net spreading throughout the texts. These representations, either recurrent or unique, are dichotomically grouped in nocturnal and diurnal and often interfere with the characters’ zeal or unresponsiveness, creating thus the feeling of a self-sufficient mundane. The fountain, the moon, the horse, the dog or the water, embroiled in the mystery of the Danube and perceived through the initiated or uninitiated eye of the angel/demon in every reader, receive unsuspected philosophical and psychological dimensions, generating troubles and situations, or disquietudes and calmness. The analysis of Durand’s symbols and principles of the Imaginary will be developed in two of Fanus Neagu’s short stories, Somnul de la amiaza and Partida de pocher
