Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims to analyze the relations between Romania and Mali in the 1960s. Since independence, the African state has shown a proximity to the socialist camp so that Romania was willing to establish bilateral relations with it. In the beginning, Romania applied a policy of aid that was manifested by equipping several Malian schools with teaching materials and by receiving young people from Mali to study. Then, between the two states, several trade and cultural agreements were signed, and some visits of delegations from the two states were organized. Towards the end of the period studied the relations between the two countries cooled due to the opposite positioning during the Prague Spring and due to the proximity of the African state to the USSR.
