Liturgical Rituals and Private Devotions in Šunskai Parish in the 19th Century

Summary/Abstract: Šunskai is an average parish in Sudovia region. Its history is not much different from other similar religious communities of Užnemunė (the other side of the Nemunas). However, this region is less investigated by historians than other Lithuanian regions because practically no church archives had survived, and most of the documents of the 19th century appear in Polish archives. But liturgical rituals and private devotions in Šunskai were not very different from liturgical tradition of all the region. So by describing a short part of Šunskai history, we can make conclusions about all the region of Sudovia.
