The Pevival of the Village as the instrument of country areas activation

Summary/Abstract: The systemic transformation and connected with it economic and social transformations showed the weakness of Polish country areas. The necessity of their restructuring appeared, which had to take into account the principles of the sustainable development, as well as the distinction and the identity of these areas. The instrument serving the realization of the above mentioned aim was the Revival of the Village. The article concerns the contribution of the Revival of the Village in social and economic activations of the country areas. Special attention was given to the program realized in Lower Silesia, because at present this region realizes the idea of the Revival of a Village in the widest range. The article depicts the effectiveness of the program in the activation of local communities, and the same in the formation of the human and social capital. Furthermore the small part of economic problems in realized projects was emphasized, because attention focused mainly around social issues. The summary states that the program of the Revival of the Village is an important element of local and regional development policy and should be realized in the wider range in the future.
