Summary/Abstract: The analysis of social determinants of rural border areas development in south-western part of Poland was based on statistics data of the Main Statistical Office and on results of 163 households questionnaires made in 2010-2011. The basic problem on borderside is the dominance of small towns which has undergone a depopulation and developing defeminization in the last two decades. On the other hand the stagnation of inflow of immigration and feminisation rate stabilization were noticed at a very low level. Another problem is the decline in the female fertility, which is particularly high in the areas with good transport accessibility and high professional activity of women. The survey studies conducted in households proved high professional activity of people living on borderside with Germany, little interest of activities of the NGOs and neighbourhood cooperation and significant share of young households members who emigrated lately.
