Development dynamics of rural communes in Masovian Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to determine the dynamics of development of rural communes in Masovian Voivodeship. The contact-related, formal and statistical criteria were applied to select a group of variables. In the next stage the synthetic index for rural communes in Masovian Voivodship was elaborated using the method of standardized sums. Local Data Bank prepared by Central Census Bureau was the data source for 2004 and 2010. The comparative analysis took into account rural communes belonging to Masovian Voivodship subregions. It was found that for 38% of rural communes development index declined during the analyzed period. There is a clear difference in the level of rural communes development in Masovian Voivodeship among subregions. Considering the value of development index, Radom subregion is characterized by the least favorable structure. The best structure is characteristic for Warsaw east and west subregion, bordering directly with Warsaw.
