Summary/Abstract: Initially, our study was intended to problematize some ideas that appeared in the General Historiography of V. Cristian, but gradually we approached other problems regarding ancient historiography. These problems have seemed to us to be relevant to this day. First of all, we referred to the critique of the texts. We also referred to the position of the historian in society. There are several concepts regarding the development or involution of human society. Also, the historian can be influenced in what he writes if he belongs to any social, political, cultural current. It is important to know if he was a participant in the described events or if he was contemporary with them. His work offers examples to follow or not and the way things were presented can give readers a mood, an attitude.
