Summary/Abstract: Anzia Yezierska's work and identity were the result of the ethnic pressure of American Nativism, as well as her own artistic sensitivity and idiosyncracies. The essay discusses the process of re-construction of the writer's personality and her literary production seen from her tormented inner self, in terms of her Jewishness, in the political context of 1920's America.
