Summary/Abstract: The literary motif of the relations between men and nature has a long tradition in Hispanic American Literature. Elements of horror fiction often appear in such texts. The analysis of three examples (fiction by Rivera, Quiroga and Schweblin) shows both the changes in the treatment of the subject and the different uses of typical horror story components.
