Summary/Abstract: This article presents a synthesis of approaches to professional satisfaction in psychology research. The emphasis is on the job satisfaction of teachers and the role of this variable in the professional performance of teachers. There are presented theories that explain how employee satisfaction arises and which is the valence of this psychological construct that is necessary for the human individual to maintain enthusiasm and involvement in the profession.
