Summary/Abstract: Physical activity is an indispensable part of every individual's life, and practicing regular physical activities brings a number of benefits for achieving and maintaining physical and mental health, as well as adopting positive habits that contribute to the quality of life. Habits, lifestyle and values that are adopted at an early and developmental age greatly influence the way and quality of life that is reflected in the later stages of life, therefore it is useful to implement physical activity in the everyday life of children and young people. The benefits of sports activities are usually categorized into three categories: physical, psychological and social benefits that significantly contribute to the quality of life. The work is focused on the analysis of the mentioned categories, looking at them through a positive feature that manifests itself through the developmental role in the life of an individual, in this context, children and young people. In general, engaging in recreational or professional sports, individual or team, leads to changes that can be applied to the child's physical, health, emotional and social plan, which results in the frequent decision of children and young people to participate in a sports activity. Sport enables the child to satisfy his needs for security, respect and self-realization, which is considered to satisfy higher levels of needs.
