Summary/Abstract: With six documents regarding a 1872 settlement between the descendants of Maria Ghica (born Hangerli), the first wife of Wallachian prince Grigore Ghica IV, as starting point, this article brings to light some biographical data as yet unknown about her, two of her sons and one of her granddaughters. The new information presented contributes to the further development of the genealogical knowledge about the Ghicas, one of the important aristocratic and ruling families of both Wallachia and Moldova, two of the Romanian states that preceded the creation of current Romania.
