Summary/Abstract: Book design in Poland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries is the main focus of the article. The author presents the most interesting typographical works and prominent Polish creators of applied arts (Stanisław Wyspiański, Jan Bukowski, Edward Okuń, Włodzimierz Konieczny, Ephraim Lilien). The collected material reviews chief tendencies in graphic design, while also providing examples of the reception of Art Nouveau among critics and intellectuals of the end of the century.
