Summary/Abstract: Depending on the global population growth, the problem of food and nutrition is also increasing. Food waste occurs at all stages of production, from farm to distribution, from retailers to consumers. About 1/3 of the food produced globally is wasted at different levels and processes based on various reasons. In addition to their individual effects, globally these losses and wastages are come out as the loose of fresh water resources, fertilizers and lands used in agriculture, and an increase in global greenhouse gas of around 8% to 10%. Food waste and its problem are multilateral, and the solution to the problem is also multi-component. It is possible to turn food waste from losses into gains. It is possible to reduce the problem with measures to be taken at the micro and macro level by using simple and advanced technologies, starting from the producer to the final consumer. Responsibility and awareness activities through effective policies will also contribute positively to the solution of the problem.
