ŞANLIURFA’DA KIRSAL ALANDAKİ KADINLARIN YAŞAM MEMNUNİYETLERİNİ ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLER ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA
A RESEARCH ON THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE LIFE SATISFACTION OF WOMEN IN THE RURAL AREA OF ŞANLIURFA

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting the life satisfaction of rural women in Şanlıurfa. The main material of this study is the data obtained from the women living in rural areas in Şanlıurfa through questionnaires used in face-to-face interviews. These data were analyzed by Chi-square test in SPSS. According to the results, a statistical significance was determined between age, marital status, number of households, education level, work area in rural areas (field crops and/or animal production), income status and income source with rural life satisfaction. The significance level is p < 1% and 44% of them are not satisfied with living in the rural, only 7% have a life satisfaction, and 49% see the rural life as fate. Women need additional support programs on education, health, income generating activities and raising living standards in rural areas. The results of this study provide useful information to policy makers. This study is one of the first studies in this field.
