ŞANLIURFA’DAKİ ÇİÇEK SATICILARININ MEVCUT YAPISI ve SÜS BİTKİLERİ SEKTÖRÜNE BAKIŞLARI ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA
A RESEARCH ON THE CURRENT STRUCTURE OF THE FLOWER SELLERS and THEIR PERSPECTIVES ON THE ORNAMENTAL PLANTS SECTOR IN ŞANLIURFA

Summary/Abstract: Today, most of the people live far from the natural environment and try to fulfill their longing for the green environment with ornamental plants. Ornamental plants and flowers are also often purchased from flower vendors. The aim of this study is to determine the general structure of the ornamental plant intermediaries’/flower sellers in Şanlıurfa and their view of the ornamental plant sector. For this purpose, a survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with flower sellers selected by simple random sampling method in Şanlıurfa in 2020. According to the results, 90.9% of the participants have a satisfactory income, and the average monthly sales amount of 45.5% is 5001 TL and above. According to the participants, the most important sector problem of ornamental plants and flower sellers is the absence of a vendor union or cooperative with 78.33%. Organized structures are a necessity for producers, intermediaries and consumers. Encouraging by extension activities for the establishment of an organized structure will contribute positively to the development of the sector and the welfare of individuals. This study is the first study on this subject in Şanlıurfa.
