Television – a Traditional Cathartic Resource (the Media Form Reality Show and the Show Moment na vistinata/Moment of Truth)

Summary/Abstract: This research examined the relationship between the television, folklore and identity through the show Moment na vistinata/Moment of Truth as a subgenre of the media form Reality Show. It also defined the way in which the television uses and includes the benefits of folklore (in its media products), by perverting their content from traditionally usual to unusual, thereby influencing the reconstruction of the individual identity and asserting itself as a traditional cathartic resource. The research showed that the media form Reality Show as a commercial-popular television genre and the television show Moment na vistinata have occupied an important place in the domain of the television program and they are a significant and inexhaustible field of research through the benefits of the folklore.
