Summary/Abstract: The content of this article reflects the danger and criminological trendsof illicit drug trafficking, as well as the threats of this phenomenon to the secu-rity of states and the population. Thus, it is found that the essential trend of thestudied phenomenon manifests in the existence of an increasing number of crimesrelated to the illegal circulation of drugs. This trend is characteristic both for Ro-mania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as for other states of the world. Drugtrafficking is not only a real threat to public security, but also a consistent finan-cial lever that facilitates the rise to political power. Therefore, the fight against il-licit drug trafficking has represented and still represents a complex social problemat national and international level, the different manifestations, repercussions, andsolutions of which must interest both, the state institutions and the public opin-ion. This thesis is explained by the fact that this is a particularly serious and dan-gerous phenomenon both for the health of the population as well as for the socio-economic stability and the good development of democratic institutions of states.
