On the children’s poetry anthology Messzike

Summary/Abstract: The study deals with an anthology of Yugoslav Hungarian poets titled Messzike, published by the Forum Publishing House in Novi Sad. The author presents the circumstances under which the book was created, as well as its authors; by analyzing procedures and language used by the poets, poetic speech, and means of expression, the author tries to find out the secrets of their poetry, which has made the book an anthology of eternal value. All the more so, because so far no worthy analysis has been published on the book, which was a great success in its time. The study also examines the significance, place, and relevance of these poems in the light of today’s contemporary children’s poetry for the reason thatmore than forty years have gone since their publication.
