PREVIOUS WORK ON THE DICTIONARY OF THE MONTENEGRIN NATIONAL AND LITERARY LANGUAGE

Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the previous phases and activities in developing the dictionary of the Montenegrin national and literary language, which is currently one of the most important projects of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. As it’s implementation significantly modernized using computer technology, we will point out the advantages of specialized and dedicated created programs, which have contributed to faster completion of two major phases in the development of the Dictionary - collection phase of lexical structure and phase separation of future guidelines for the Dictionary, and will significantly accelerate the work in the last phase - phase lexicographical treatment words. Attention will be paid to the principles of selecting lexical items, lexical stratification already published Registry Dictionary of Montenegrin national and literary language, and the formal structure of the guidelines and issues related to its identification and establishment. Opening a new era in the development of dictionaries in Montenegro, primarily due to preference for the use of modern technology, Dictionary of Montenegrin national and literary language is a significant contribution to the development of Montenegrin lexicography, but also an occasion for a new, broader research and lexicographical ventures.It’s development is a necessity and activities of national importance. Therefore, this paper points out the current opportunities and the need for producing this dictionary, which systematized vocabulary of standard language and preserved from oblivion lexical treasure Montenegrin national speech.
