SOCIAL COORDINATES IN THE TRANSLATION OF SHAKESPEAR’S TRAGEDY ‘JULIUS CAESER’

Summary/Abstract: Different social and political processes, which have often been contradictory trends, are delineated as direct and indirect conditions for the translations of the Shakespearean tragedy “Julius Caesar”. The complex and various political views of Bulgaria towards Russia determined the opposite interpretations of the play in the end of the 19th c. The attitude towards Germany and Austria had its domineering impact on the pre-requisites for the artefact’s publications in the first half of the 29yh c. The reasons for the relative oblivion of the drama after this period and the following best version of V. Petrov are also highlighted in the report.
