Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the concept of knowledge management as a concept closely linked to information and communication technology, information society and knowledge society. Capacity for social change are largely determined by our ability to locate, processing and use of relevant information, and information and knowledge based on them are important conditions for progressive social development and the welfare of society will increasingly depend on our ability to use the knowledge and experience produced globally. Knowledge management is the inclusion of a full professional potential of some institutions, such as databases, web pages and documents, sharing knowledge within the organization, and with external customers, organizational culture, tacit knowledge and experience of employees, as well as information collected, stored and organized in libraries , archives, administrative and other departments. Considering that the components combined in the knowledge management are knowledge of the organization, storage and retrieval of information, because on information are based the growth and development of knowledge, information professionals-librarians are fit very well in these areas. Librarians, regardless of the technology, always knew how knowledge is organized. Application of new technologies contributions proactive and mediator role of libraries and librarians, especially in the higher education, and makes them at the same time coordinators available information, their analysts and those who evaluated them. Therefore, a good librarian, more than ever, worth gold.
