Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the concept of Information literacy as the set of skills and abilities that new generations must adopt, particularly within the context of higher education, in order to equip them with abilities to cope with the information overflow and to comprehend their importance, relevance and credibility which are much needed for creation and adoption of new knowledge. Also, the paper presents the syllabus of a particular elective course of Information Literacy at the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies, University of Sarajevo, as well as information literacy pre-test results that are showing the student knowledge from this area at the module’s commencing.
