TRADITIONAL AND NONTRADITIONAL APPROACHES OF SECURITY: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES

Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this article is to capture the evolution of the concept of „security“ from the perspective of the nature of the security risks, challenges, dangers and threats that emerged in the post-Cold War international security environment and influenced by the progress of globalisation. Following a comparative analysis between traditional and non-traditional security, the conclusion is that non-traditional security issues have overtaken traditional security issues, and they have proven to be just as dangerous or even more serious in that they can affect many more people than military threats and require non-military solutions and international cooperation to address.
