Summary/Abstract: The present article is focused on Rumeli newspaper (Rumelia), issued in Targovishte between 1924-1925 by the Turkish political emigrant in Bulgaria (1922-1925) Tarik Mumtaz. The content of some of the articles defines Rumeli newspaper as one pointing to the left political direction, so we can trace the party press of the Bulgarian socialists (narrow and broad) along with their attitude toward the events in Anatolia during the War of Independence of the Turkish people. The problem with the propaganda of the Turkish movement for national liberation led by Mustafa Kemal, started by the parties – members of the Third International in 1920, goes beyond the borders of Bulgaria and spreads with the help of the different Communist parties in the whole of Europe. This propaganda incorporates the one of the Third Communist International – known as the Comintern, against the Second International and its leaders Emile Vandervelde, Karl Kautsky, etc. and also against the parties that belong to it. During different periods of time in some countries the Вulgarian Workers’ Social Democratic Party, known as “the broad socialists”, the Esers and Mensheviks in Russia and Georgia, the Azerbaijan Musavat party, the Armenian Dashnaktsutyun, the Socialist Party of Turkey of Huseyin Hilmi and others gravitate toward the Second International. All of them are subjects to attacks by the bodies of the Communist Parties, in this case the Bulgarian Communist Party. As a whole, Rumeli newspaper follows the political direction of Ziya newspaper and Rabotnicheski vestnik (Workers’newspaper) by criticizing the activities of the Social Democrats and also by supporting Kemalist Turkey.
