Summary/Abstract: The article traces teachers’ opinions about their students attitude to reading. For this purpose, a qualitative research was carried out by a questionnaire. 22 teachers from three cities (Sofia, Burgas, Stara Zagora), teaching Bulgarian language and literature or Russian language in the first and in the second high school level have joined in survey. The article presents the results of the most indicative questions for the realization of our goal. During the process of interpreting the survey data we have revealed troubling trends, but also a tendency of slow but sure revival of a passion for reading. Declared lines of reasoning lead us to proposed solutions, which must overcome enormous resistances of different types.
