Some Reflections on the Concepts and Activities for Rural Development

Summary/Abstract: This paper contains some reflections related to the quarter-centuryof implementation of rural renewal programs in Poland. It is an attempt to summarisethe effects of rural renewal activities in the context of compliance of the idea of ​​ rural renewalwith practical activities. According to the author, in the modern world, full of variousunexpected crises, rural renewal activities, consisting mainly in raising the standard ofliving, are not sufficient for the development of rural areas. In her opinion, the ideasof smart villages and, above all, rural resilience should be implemented to a wide extentin development activities. Resilience and the ability not only to survive, but also to getthrough crises well and creatively, seem to be essential in global conditions.
