Summary/Abstract: The text of the article focuses on the continuous changes in the sound of Swedish popular melodies in the second half of the 20th century, triggered by the desire to shape a modern sound that would make the musical product competitive on the international scene. The songs are diverse in style and genre. Musical currents followed world trends and in the 1990s, as a result of the huge export of music production to the world market, there was talk of a ‘Swedish music phenomenon’, a ‘Swedish pop miracle’. The Scandinavian socio-cultural model of the ‘welfare state’, which creates excellent conditions for music education and for the development of the music industry, has provided strong support for the evolutionary processes in music. New technologies are being used to create hit songs that respond to changing public attitudes and global demands.
