Italian popular song in „Sanremo style“ through the eyes of music critics

Summary/Abstract: For 71 years, the Sanremo Music Festival has been one of the symbols of contemporary Italian music culture. Thanks to it, the Italian popular song received international recognition. The purpose of this report is to reveal that the success of the Italian Musica Leggera is due not only to the talent and the charisma of the performers but also to the melodies that are easy to sing, the harmony and the modern of their time sound and arrangement. A point of reference for comment will be the studies of leading Italian music researchers, who pay attention not only to the historical and sociocultural prerequisites for the origin and success of Musica Leggera but also analyze the musical substance of the popular song.
