Summary/Abstract: Since the 1950’s, the content analysis has been defined as a research method by B. Be r e ls o n (Be r e ls o n 1952). Since that time it has been used in a number of scientific disciplines, including social sciences. The ever more frequent utilization of this method stems primarily from the possibility to accept considerably generalized or explanatory conclusions. One of the main fields of political science’s interest is the issue of regional development. Its potential is often assessed, based on the identification of endogenous factors, which also include local political representation. The value attitudes of the region that affect the composition of the local political body crucially are undoubtedly very much affected by the impact of local media. The purpose of the article is to verify the usability of the content analysis in the study of the local media in this context. It is apparent that the content analysis can be a useful tool for understanding the possible effects of one of the most important factors of regional development - local printed media.
