Summary/Abstract: The article examines the influence of the minimum wage on the growth of unemployment in the Czech Republic. For example, according to neoclassical ideas concerning the labour market, the minimum wage exerts negative impacts on the labour market. We therefore wondered if this premise was indeed valid. We created an econometric model in which we took into account selected other variables that, in our opinion, influence unemployment. The analysis revealed that the minimum wage does not exert a significant impact on the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic. The minimum wage should be adjusted at least once a year, i.e. at regular intervals so as to ensure the timely initiation of tripartite dialogue with the relevant social partners.
